The League Managers Association’s panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Chris Hughton, Rachel Yankey, Les Ferdinand, Clare Tomlinson, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry has determined that the Utilita Performance of the Week Award should go to Plymouth Argyle for their 2-1 victory against Ipswich on Sunday 25th September 2022.

Plymouth Argyle manager Steven Schumacher will receive the Utilita Performance of the Week trophy.

On receiving his award Steven said: “It is really nice to be given this award in recognition for the win on Sunday. It was an excellent game, a terrific advert for League One football, and we had to show great character to come from behind against a very good Ipswich side.

“For it to send us top of the league was special, too. Now, we want to continue to work hard so we can enjoy many more games like that one.”

Match Report

Argyle inflicted a first defeat of the season on Sky Bet League One leaders Ipswich Town and, in doing so, leapfrogged the Sunday lunchtime visitors at the top of the table.

Freddie Ladapo graced his Home Park return with a scruffy opener six minutes before half-time but the Pilgrims fought back with a brace of wonder strikes from Bali Mumba and Morgan Whittaker to bag three joyful points from a pulsating match.

Argyle manager Steven Schumacher recalled James Wilson, Danny Mayor, Niall Ennis and Adam Randell, with Macaulay Gillesphey, Ryan Hardie and Jordan Houghton on the bench. Finn Azaz was on international duty and Brendan Galloway suspended.
