LMA PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK IN ASSOCIATION WITH SKY SPORTS SOCCER SATURDAY - PEP’S BLUES WIN AWAY AT STAMFORD BRIDGE

The League Managers Association’s panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Paul Ince, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett, Barry Fry and Rachel Yankey, has determined that the LMA Performance of the Week Award should go to Manchester City for their 1-0 victory against Chelsea on Saturday 25th September 2021.

The experienced and highly distinguished panel has managed a combined total of over 6,500 competitive matches in professional football.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will receive a celebratory bottle of champagne, courtesy of Tanners Wines, and an LMA Performance of the Week trophy.

Match Report

City produced a fine display to beat Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge and move up to second in the Premier League table.

It was a performance full of graft and hard work, as well as moments of wonderful attacking football. 

Gabriel Jesus' deflected strike won it for City, who thoroughly deserved the victory having dominated proceedings and been by far the bolder team. 

It was Pep Guardiola’s 221st win as City boss – more than any other manager in the Club’s history.
