LMA PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK IN ASSOCIATION WITH SKY SPORTS SOCCER SATURDAY - DERBY DAY TRIUMPH FOR THE BAGGIES
The League Managers Association’s panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett, Barry Fry Paul Ince and Rachel Yankey, has determined that the LMA Performance of the Week Award, in association with Sky Sports Soccer Saturday, should go to West Bromwich Albion for their 3-2 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday 16th January 2021.
The experienced and highly distinguished panel has managed a combined total of over 6,500 competitive matches in professional football.
West Brom Manager Sam Allardyce will receive a celebratory bottle of champagne, courtesy of Tanners Wines, and an LMA Performance of the Week trophy.
Albion claimed the bragging rights with a 3-2 victory at Molineux as the Black Country derby returned after a nine-year absence.
Matheus Pereira netted twice from the penalty spot either side of a Semi Ajayi header as Sam Allardyce’s men took all three points from the 161st encounter with the old enemy.
The Baggies were without several first-team regulars with Sam Johnstone and Matt Phillips continuing their recovery from COVID-19, while Conor Gallagher (suspension) and Grady Diangana (injury) were also unavailable.
Robert Snodgrass made his Albion debut in midfield after joining from West Ham United last week and David Button deputised between the sticks.
