LG PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK: WILSON LIFTS CHESTERFIELD WITH WIN AGAINST TITLE CHASING BOLTON

The League Managers Association’s five-man panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, has determined that the LG Performance of the Week Award should go to Chesterfield following their hard fought 1-0 victory against title chasing Bolton Wanderers on Saturday 17th December 2016.

The experienced and highly distinguished panel has managed a combined total of over 6,000 competitive matches in professional football.

Chesterfield manager Danny Wilson will receive a celebratory bottle of champagne, courtesy of Tanners Wines, and a LG Performance of the Week trophy in a presentation to commemorate the result.

Match Report

The Spireites put in one of the best showings of the season as Liam O'Neil's first half strike saw them to a 1-0 Proact win over high-flying Bolton Wanderers.

After absorbing early pressure the Spireites lead when O'Neil scored his second goal in two games with a smart half-volley in the box, following his goal at Peterborough last week.

Zach Clough had openings either side of the break but unable to take them the Spireites saw out a stunning win with a professional and mesured second-half performance to end Bolton's streak of five straight wins.
