LG PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK: DREAM START TO LIFE AT CHESTERFIELD FOR NEW MANAGER WILSON

The League Managers Association five-man Performance of the Week panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, were in agreement that this week the LG Performance of the Week Award should go to Chesterfield following their excellent 7-1 victory against Shrewsbury Town in Sky Bet League One on Saturday 2nd January 2016.

The experienced and highly distinguished panel has managed a combined total of over 6,000 competitive matches in professional football.

Newly appointed Chesterfield manager, Danny Wilson, will receive a specially commissioned trophy made by world renowned silversmiths and LMA Partner, Thomas Lyte of London, in a presentation to commemorate the award.

Since Wilson’s appointment, the Spireites have put a halt to their recent dip in form. The convincing win against Shrewsbury was their first in 11 games in all competitions and sees them jump ahead of their opponents into 18th place in League One.

The new manager told the Derbyshire Telegraph: “I was very proud of the performance, even taking away the goals. The scoreline suggests that we were on top but we had to work very hard to get our noses in front in the early part of the game.”
