Crystal Palace Manager Dean Davenport has been awarded Barclays Women’s Championship Manager of the Month trophy for August by the LMA Panel.

Following a perfect start to the season, with a closely fought win over London City Lionesses and a comprehensive 3-0 victory at home to Coventry United, Crystal Palace lead the Barclays Women's Championship after two games.

Upon receiving the Manager of the Month trophy Davenport said: "Firstly, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the LMA for this award. To win this award so early on in the season is another positive step for the club on our newest of journeys.

"It's important to praise Crystal Palace Football Club and its board for the backing and investment shown in the off-season, to allow us to put together a professional football programme that has allowed the club and its staff to strive for the very best. This award is a testament to the hard work and togetherness shown by the players and all the support staff. A special mention must go to James Marrs, who stepped in during an absence to continue the great start and work. The award is for everyone at this club, we are a team and it is important we win these awards as one."

Chair of the League Managers Association panel Faye White MBE added: "Results in the first two weeks suggest the Barclays Women's Championship is going to be highly competitive this season, and Crystal Palace have set the standard, scoring four goals and keeping two clean sheets.

"Dean and his coaching team are building on their team's fourth place finish last season and this excellent start will give them confidence to challenge with the best teams in the league again this year."

The LMA panel for the monthly awards involves six highly experienced individuals with specialist knowledge of the women’s game and football management, including Faye White MBE (Former England International Captain and LMA Technical Advisor), Alan Curbishley (LMA Board Member and LMA Manager of the Year 1999/2000), Brent Hills (LMA Member and Technical Mentor), Mollie Kmita (Presenter and Host of Barclays Women's Championship Show), Mo Marley MBE (LMA Member), and Jen O’Neill (Editor of She Kicks - women's football magazine).
