BARCLAYS WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP MANAGER OF THE MONTH - APRIL 2023

Birmingham City Head Coach Darren Carter has been awarded Barclays Women’s Championship Manager of the Month trophy for April by the LMA Panel.

Carter's team ended the Barclays Women's Championship in sensational form, winning the last seven games including five victories during a busy April month, securing second place and finishing a single point behind champions Bristol City.

On receiving the Manager of the Month trophy Carter said: “It’s a privilege to accept the award on behalf of the players and staff as this is a collective effort that saw us finish the season in a really positive way. To go on a seven-game win streak, and nine unbeaten, is a reward for all of the hard work and effort put in by everyone.”

Chair of the League Managers Association panel Faye White MBE added: "During the final months of the season, Carter's team emerged as a dominant force in the Women's Championship, earning a second place finish after applying some pressure on eventual winners Bristol City.

“Despite remaining in the Championship for another season, this end of season form will undoubtedly give them the confidence to build a strong promotion challenge next season, as the league's competitiveness continues to grow year on year."

The LMA panel for the monthly awards involves six highly experienced individuals with specialist knowledge of the women’s game and football management, including Faye White MBE (Former England International Captain and LMA Technical Advisor), Alan Curbishley (LMA Board Member and LMA Manager of the Year 1999/2000), Brent Hills (LMA Member and Technical Mentor), Mollie Kmita (Presenter and Host of Barclays Women's Championship Show), Mo Marley MBE (LMA Member), and Jen O’Neill (Editor of She Kicks - women's football magazine).
