SKY BET FOOTBALL LEAGUE MANAGER OF THE MONTH AWARDS: NOVEMBER 15

The winners of the Sky Bet Manager of the Month Awards for November are:

Sky Bet Championship: Mick McCarthy (Ipswich Town)

Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy has been named the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month for November.

Never one to panic, McCarthy’s calmness under pressure and steadfast belief in his players allowed them to flourish in November and pick up 10 points from a maximum 12, which included three-goal wins at Rotherham and Charlton.

George Burley chairs the Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel.

He said: “After a tough October, Mick found the right blend in his squad winning three games and drawing one during November.

“The 5–2 and 3–0 victories away from home show how many attacking qualities he has in his side.

“After just missing out in the Play-Offs last season, Mick will be determined to finish in the top six again this time around.”

Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “Mick McCarthy described October as the toughest moment of his Ipswich managerial career, after losing 3-0 to Hull City and slumping to 11th in the table.

“This makes the form that Town showed in November all the more impressive, as convincing wins against Bolton, Rotherham and Charlton saw them move up the table.”

 Westley

Sky Bet League 1: Graham Westley (Peterborough United)

Peterborough United manager Graham Westley has been named the Sky Bet League 1 Manager of the Month for November.

The initial concerns of Posh fans over Westley’s appointment have been swept away by breathtaking attacking play and an avalanche of goals.

He’s bringing the best out of his players with a maximum 12 points and 14 goals from four games.

George Burley chairs the Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel.

He said: “Graham has had a fantastic month putting Peterborough United into the Play-Off positions.

“Not only have they won all four games in November, they have scored an astonishing 14 goals in the process.

“Peterborough have become renowned for their open style of play in the last few seasons and it certainly looks as though Graham wants to carry that forward.”

Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “Westley’s time at London Road couldn’t have gone any better."

 Wilder

Sky Bet League 2: Chris Wilder (Northampton Town)

Northampton Town manager Chris Wilder has been named the Sky Bet League 2 Manager of the Month for November.

Wilder set aside concerns over the future of the club and non-payment of wages to inspire his team to a perfect month with four wins out of four.

The togetherness he has instilled lifted Northampton into the automatic promotion places.

George Burley chairs the Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel.

He said: “Chris has done a terrific job with Northampton Town, while also having to deal with a lot of difficult problems off the field.

“He has achieved a 100% record this month with two really solid home wins and two outstanding away performances at Notts County and Yeovil.”

Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “What a month it’s been for Northampton Town and Chris Wilder.

“They started November with the threat of a winding up order hanging over them, and have ended it in the automatic promotion places with a new owner at the helm.

“He deserves a huge amount of credit for the fact that he was able to keep his players focussed and motivated - testament to his management capabilities.”

The judging panel comprises former Ipswich Town manager George Burley; Sky Sports’ Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Chief Operating Officer Andy Williamson; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery
