REHANNE SKINNER STATEMENT
STATEMENT RELEASED ON BEHALF OF REHANNE SKINNER:
Monday was a sad & difficult day for me, leaving a Club that I had put my heart & soul into professionalising both on & off the pitch since taking over the team in 2020.
The game is a rollercoaster & we have had some important achievements; avoiding relegation in the 1st season to then achieving 5th place, the club's highest ever finish in my 2nd season alongside a Conti Cup semi final. There are so many memories along the way that I am grateful for. Unfortunately this season for a number of reasons we have not been able to get the results we had hoped for which has been disappointing for us all despite our best efforts to change that.
During my time at Spurs I have been privileged to work with such an amazing group of strong and determined women past & present, who have been exceptional role models on & off the pitch. Getting to know them as people & players has been hugely rewarding for me personally & something I will always be grateful for. I believe in the team & have every confidence that they can do what they need to get results in the remaining games this season to showcase what they are about. I thank all of them for their desire to make the team better, their commitment & support during our time evolving this club.
To all the staff that have been involved & have undergone so many changes in the restructuring that has posed them with so many challenges, I am grateful for the dedication, focus & commitment you have shown in trying to keep the team moving forward during this last season.
Thanks to the club for giving me the opportunity in 2020, the changes we have made have been significant & I am proud of what we have achieved with a new training facility, change of home ground, increase of staff & integration into the wider club. All these things have been key to move the team into a more professional status and I hope this continues.
Lastly for the fans who have been growing in numbers game on game, investing time & energy into supporting the team. I will be forever grateful for your support which was the absolute best I have experienced in any game when we hosted United at the Hotspur Stadium in February. You were unbelievable that day, creating a memorable atmosphere, something I will never forget. Please keep supporting the team as the club continues to grow on this journey to the top.
Following such long periods away from my family & friends who have supported me through everything, I look forward to getting some of that time back now but my commitment & passion for the women’s game will never go away so I look forward to the next opportunity to help to grow the game in whatever way I can when the time is right.
Thank you all #COYS
