London Bees Manager Lee Burch has been awarded The FA Women’s Championship Manager of the Month trophy for September by the LMA Panel.

Burch and his London Bees team completed an unbeaten month, with home victories against Coventry United and Lewes either side of 3-3 draw with Leicester City.

On receiving the Manager of the Month trophy, he said: "It's been a good start to the season and this award shows that the hard work from every member of the group has been noticed. The hard work from the staff in the background such as Sian, Craig, Ricky, Luigi and both Adams has been great and it puts the players into a good position to deliver on the pitch, which they have.

"The players have been excellent from the moment I arrived and have shown a great appetite to improve as individuals and as a team."

"There's still a lot more work and developing to do as a team. We are battling and competing against some huge clubs, with big resources but we are really pleased with the start to the season and will continue to take it game by game."

Chair of the League Managers Association panel Marieanne Spacey-Cale MBE said: "The London Bees unbeaten month in September shows the progress being made under Lee. He took the reins in the summer and it appears that the work that has been done since has paid off.

"For the club to be in third place at this early stage of the season gives Lee and his team a platform to build upon and he will hope that they will continue to challenge for promotion as the season progresses."

The LMA panel for the monthly awards involves three highly experienced individuals with specialist knowledge of the women’s game and football management, including Marieanne Spacey-Cale MBE (LMA Member and Southampton FC Head of Girls and Women’s Football/Head Coach), Jen O’Neill (Editor of She Kicks - women's football magazine) and Alan Curbishley (LMA Board Member and LMA Manager of the Year 1999/2000).
