The LMA has awarded Aston Villa Manager Gemma Davies with The FA Women’s Championship Manager of the Month trophy, following a perfect start to the new season.

Davies and her Aston Villa team secured two wins against Sheffield United and London City Lionesses, to begin their FA Women's Championship season in fine form.

On receiving the Manager of the Month trophy, Gemma Davies said: “This award is recognition of the hard work that all staff and players across our team put in every week to ensure we have the best possible platform to succeed. This is truly for them.”

Chair of the League Managers Association panel Marieanne Spacey-Cale MBE said: "The work Gemma and her team has done over the summer, bringing in new signings and technical work on the training pitch has shown in the results of their first two games.

"Sheffield United and London City Lionesses are both competitive teams in the FA Women's Championship, so for Gemma to have six points on the board already, represents a great start for her and Aston Villa."

The LMA panel for the monthly awards involves three highly experienced individuals with specialist knowledge of the women’s game and football management, including Marieanne Spacey-Cale MBE (LMA Member and Southampton FC Head of Girls and Women’s Football/Head Coach), Jen O’Neill (Editor of She Kicks - women's football magazine) and Alan Curbishley (LMA Board Member and LMA Manager of the Year 1999/2000).
