THE LMA & THE EVE APPEAL LAUNCH CHARITY PARTNERSHIP

The LMA is proud to announce its new partnership with The Eve Appeal, the only UK national charity which funds research into, and raises awareness of, the prevention and earlier detection of the five gynaecological cancers: womb, ovarian, cervical, vulval and vaginal.

The Eve Appeal was set up to save lives by funding ground-breaking research focused on developing effective methods of risk prediction, earlier detection and developing screening for gynae cancers.

The research is ambitious and challenging, but the vision is simple: a future where gynaecological cancers are diseases of the past.

Through the partnership, which is being launched ahead of National Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month in September, LMA members will be encouraged to back a series of campaigns and to play their part in supporting and promoting a range of ventures throughout the season.

The charity will also feature prominently in LMA communications, including the LMA’s quarterly publication The Manager.

To mark the launch, the LMA has joined the charity’s Every Woman Promise, which was set up to support a wide range of organisations with wellbeing programmes about all things gynae. The programme aims to:

  • Promote health equality in the workplace
  • Normalise conversations around gynae health
  • Remove taboos and embarrassment in the workplace

The Eve Appeal’s CEO, Athena Lamnisos, said: “We are delighted that the League Managers Association has joined the Every Woman Promise, making a commitment to work with their members to build a culture of understanding and support around gynaecological health. We very much look forward to working with the LMA’s members, and their community as a whole, to break down taboos and normalise conversations about women’s health.”

LMA Committee Member, Hope Powell CBE, added: “It is so important to change the culture around gynaecological health and to promote conversations free of taboos so that everyone can become more aware of the symptoms to look out for and can feel comfortable talking about them. The more knowledge, understanding and support created around gynae cancers, the more people will seek help at the earliest opportunity. As a game, we look forward to supporting The Eve Appeal’s campaigns in any way we can.”

LMA Chief Executive, Richard Bevan OBE, said: “The LMA is extremely pleased to be partnering with The Eve Appeal to help raise awareness of the five gynaecological cancers. Further to the LMA’s award-winning partnership with Prostate Cancer UK, we are privileged to be able to use our voice within football to share key lifesaving messages. We look forward to working together throughout the season and beyond.”
