Sheffield United Manager Neil Redfearn has been awarded The FA Women’s Championship Manager of the Month trophy for September by the LMA Panel.

Redfearn's team started the season in promising form, winning all three matches in September. An impressive win over Durham was followed by two 3-0 victories over Coventry United and Watford, leaving United top of the table after the first full month of the season.

Upon receiving the Manager of the Month trophy Redfearn said: "The award is a reflection of the results we've had over the past month and it's been a real team effort, both players and staff, that's ensured we've had such a positive start to the season.

"We've worked hard over pre-season and now hopefully how we have started and what we're doing can be a springboard for the rest of the campaign."

Chair of the League Managers Association panel Marieanne Spacey-Cale MBE added: "It is the second consecutive season that Neil and his team have won this award for September, which shows it doesn't take them long to reach a consistent level of performance.

"The results in September show that Sheffield United will be an exciting team to watch this year, with the ability to score goals and win games. Keeping the momentum going will be key for Neil and his team, to build upon their positive start."

The LMA panel for the monthly awards involves three highly experienced individuals with specialist knowledge of the women’s game and football management, including Marieanne Spacey-Cale MBE (LMA Member and Southampton FC Head of Girls and Women’s Football/Head Coach), Jen O’Neill (Editor of She Kicks - women's football magazine) and Alan Curbishley (LMA Board Member and LMA Manager of the Year 1999/2000).
