Gary Simpson has recently left Lincoln after being appointed manager on February 27, 2013.
He was previously the manager of Macclesfield Town having been appointed manager following the sudden and tragic death of Keith Alexander on April 14, 2010.
Gary was Alexander's assistant at Macclesfield and acted in the same role with Keith at Ilkeston Town, Northwich Victoria, Lincoln City, and Peterborough United. He was also a coach and scout during Alexander's spell as Director of Football at Bury.
He began his managerial career with Gainsborough Trinity after an extensive playing career which included being captain of Boston United in the 1985 FA Trophy final.
Simpson later acted as caretaker manager of Lincoln City in November 2003, leading the club to an impressive 5 wins and 4 draws from his 11 games in charge.
Prior to his appointment at Moss Rose, Simpson also served for a period as caretaker manager and successfully won 18 points from a possible 30.
After a positive league finish in npower League Two (2010/11), Simpson was awarded with a new contract with the Silkmen. He remained with the club until March 2012 before his return to Lincoln.
