Match Report
Town put in a superb performance to beat Spurs 2-1 and secure a first win of the Premier League season.
Sam Szmodics and Liam Delap scored the goals in the first half to secure victory, with Town holding firm in the second period to collect three points after putting in an excellent display both in attack and defence.
Town were boosted by the return of Axel Tuanzebe from a thumb injury, with the defender lining up on the right of a defence made up of Dara O’Shea, Cameron Burgess and Leif Davis, in front of Aro Muric.
Captain Sam Morsy was joined in midfield by Jens Cajuste, with Ben Johnson operating on the right and both Omari Hutchinson and Szmodics supporting Delap.
Wearing the pink third kit for the first time, Town started quickly, with Szmodics wriggling free inside the box and making himself space to shoot. His effort deflected wide for a corner. Davis’s delivery was met by O’Shea, with the Irishman’s effort deflected behind for a goal-kick.
