Match Report

Haji Wright’s hat-trick fired the Sky Blues to three points against Sunderland at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Wright struck twice in the first half, before completing his hat-trick midway through the second half, to get the Sky Blues back to winning ways in the Championship and back into the top six.

City had the games first opportunity, and it fell to defender Bobby Thomas, who had scored in his last three fixtures at the CBS Arena, but this time he couldn’t steer his attempt on target.

Sunderland looked to strike, and it was forward Eliezer Mayenda with a curling effort from inside of the area, but Oliver Dovin saved well.

A few minutes later and the deadlock was broken, and it was a wonderful strike from 20 yards-out by Haji Wright, which left Anthony Patterson helpless as he scored his first goal since returning from injury.
