LMA PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK: BIELSA’S LEEDS UNITED WINS AWAY AT VILLA PARK
The League Managers Association’s panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett, Barry Fry Paul Ince and Rachel Yankey, has determined that the LMA Performance of the Week Award should go to Leeds United for their 3-0 victory against Aston Villa on Friday 23rd October 2020.
The experienced and highly distinguished panel has managed a combined total of over 6,500 competitive matches in professional football.
Leeds United Manager Marcelo Bielsa will receive a celebratory bottle of champagne, courtesy of Tanners Wines, and an LMA Performance of the Week trophy to commemorate the result.
Patrick Bamford scored his first Premier League hat-trick as Leeds United produced a superb performance at Villa Park, to end Aston Villa’s winning start to the season.
Head coach Marcelo Bielsa made one change from the side which lost to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday, with Ezgjan Alioski replacing Kalvin Phillips in the side.
Leeds made a bright start to the game, following a good pass from Jack Harrison on the turn, Ezgjan Alioski delivered a dangerous cross into the Aston Villa box, which Bamford met with a diving header, but he saw his attempt go just wide by the finest of margins.
Harrison and Alioski again combined with the latter teeing up Rodrigo, but he saw his strike well blocked with Leeds winning a corner.
