Aston Villa Manager Gemma Davies has been awarded The FA Women’s Championship Manager of the Month trophy for February by the LMA Panel.

Davies' team continued their march towards the Barclays FA Women's Super League, whilst ensuring they remained unbeaten in the 2019/20 season, with two victories over Coventry United and Charlton Athletic.

Upon receiving her third trophy of the season Davies said: “I’m delighted to accept this award on behalf of our team of dedicated staff and players who work tirelessly on a daily basis to make sure we can continue to push ourselves further.

"We are starting to see the outcome of our hard work this season that wouldn’t have been possible without the foundations built last season and we will continually strive to improve what we do together as a team. We look forward to the challenges the rest of this season will bring and will face them head on together.”

Chair of the League Managers Association panel Marieanne Spacey-Cale MBE said of Davies' award: “At this point in the season, it is important that the squad stay focused towards their aim of promotion.

"Gemma appears to have the balance of allowing the players to enjoy playing, but also focused on gaining three points in every game. They went unbeaten again in February, putting more and more pressure on their rivals and getting closer to earning a well-deserved promotion."

The LMA panel for the monthly awards involves three highly experienced individuals with specialist knowledge of the women’s game and football management, including Marieanne Spacey-Cale MBE (LMA Member and Southampton FC Head of Girls and Women’s Football/Head Coach), Jen O’Neill (Editor of She Kicks - women's football magazine) and Alan Curbishley (LMA Board Member and LMA Manager of the Year 1999/2000).
