LG PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK: BOURNEMOUTH
The League Managers Association five-man Performance of the Week panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, were in agreement that this week the LG Performance of the Week Award should go to Bournemouth following their excellent 3 - 0 victory against Bolton Wanderers in the Sky Bet Championship on Monday 27th April 2015.
The experienced and highly distinguished panel has managed a combined total of over 6,000 competitive matches in professional football.
Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe will receive a specially commissioned trophy made by world renowned silversmiths and LMA Partner, Thomas Lyte of London, in a presentation to commemorate the award. This is the second time in five weeks that the club has earned the award which was previously given after the 3 – 0 win against promotion rivals Middlesbrough last month.
Howard Wilkinson said, “Bournemouth’s achievements this season are nothing short of fantastic. To take a club which was experiencing such difficulties just a short while ago, to the brink of the Barclays Premier League required a monumental effort and everyone connected with the club during this period must be congratulated.”
After the game Eddie Howe said, “It’s just incredible really, it’s difficult to describe. It will take some time to sink in really because we’ve been so intense and the games have come so quickly that you really do have to focus on each one as though your life depends on it.
“But it’s a good day for the football club, a great day for our supporters and we’re just really pleased to be able to make them feel like this.”
