LG PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK: WOODGATE’S BORO ENDS THE YEAR WITH AWAY WIN

The League Managers Association’s panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Chris Hughton, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, has determined that the LG Performance of the Week Award should go to Middlesbrough for their 2 - 0 victory against West Bromwich Albion on Sunday 29th December 2019.

The experienced and highly distinguished panel has managed a combined total of over 6,500 competitive matches in professional football.

Middlesbrough Manager Jonathan Woodgate will receive a celebratory bottle of champagne, courtesy of Tanners Wines, and an LG Performance of the Week trophy in a presentation to commemorate the result.

Match Report

Boro saved the best until last by recording a first win away of the season in some style to topple league leaders West Bromwich Albion.

It was the final game of the year and, with the possible exception of last season’s 3-2 win at the same venue, the performance was arguably the best of the year.

It made it three wins out of three for Jonathan Woodgate’s side and to combine such a strong performance with a result against a team who are expected to be playing in the Premier League next season shows the optimism for the future.
