LG PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK: LESTER LEADS CHESTERFIELD TO WIN OVER MIDLANDS RIVALS

The League Managers Association’s five-man panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, has determined that the LG Performance of the Week Award should go to Chesterfield for their 3-1 victory against promotion-chasing Notts County on Sunday 25th March 2018.

The experienced and highly distinguished panel has managed a combined total of over 6,000 competitive matches in professional football.

Chesterfield manager Jack Lester will receive a celebratory bottle of champagne, courtesy of Tanners Wines, and an LG Performance of the Week trophy in a presentation to commemorate the result.

Match Report

First-half goals from Sid Nelson and Zavon Hines, along with a late Kristian Dennis penalty gave Chesterfield a 3-1 victory over Midlands rivals Notts County at the Proact on Sunday afternoon.

Nelson converted an Andy Kellett corner for his first goal in a blue shirt. Hines then doubled the advantage, with his first goal in Spireites colours with a well-taken finish in the 39th minute.

Former Town left back Dan Jones then pulled a goal back for the Magpies in the 84th minute, when his free-kick from the right flank found its way into the far corner of the net.

Dennis then sealed the game for Town in stoppage time, scoring from the spot for his 18th goal of the season after Kellett was fouled in the area.
