LG PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK: JAVI GRACIA’S PERFECT START TO THE SEASON CONTINUES INTO SEPTEMBER

The League Managers Association’s five-man panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, has determined that the LG Performance of the Week Award should go to Watford for their 2-1 victory against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday 2nd September 2018.

The experienced and highly distinguished panel has managed a combined total of over 6,000 competitive matches in professional football.

Watford manager Javi Gracia will receive a celebratory bottle of champagne, courtesy of Tanners Wines, and an LG Performance of the Week trophy in a presentation to commemorate the result.

Match Report

Watford manager Javi Gracia credited Troy Deeney's "special personality" as Watford came from behind to shock Tottenham and maintain their perfect start to the Premier League season.

Both sides began the match with 100% records but captain Deeney led the home side's comeback with his second goal of the campaign before Craig Cathcart's second-half header decided a tight encounter.

Tottenham had scored a fortuitous opener as Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure bundled into his own net but, after winning their first four league games for the first time in 30 years, it is the Hornets who join Liverpool and Chelsea on maximum points at the top of the table.
