LG PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK: COVENTRY CITY REWARDED FOR WIN
AWAY VICTORY EARNS COVENTRY CITY THE ACCOLADE
The League Managers Association five-man Performance of the Week panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, were in agreement that this week the LG Performance of the Week Award should go to Coventry City following their excellent 4 - 0 victory against Millwall in Sky Bet League One on Saturday 15 August 2015.
The experienced and highly distinguished panel has managed a combined total of over 6,000 competitive matches in professional football.
Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray will receive a specially commissioned trophy made by world renowned silversmiths and LMA Partner, Thomas Lyte of London, in a presentation to commemorate the award.
Coventry City recorded the biggest win of the day on Saturday, brushing Millwall aside with a rampant 4-0 display at The Den.
Sky Blues boss Tony Mowbray praised the impact of midfielder Ruben Lameiras after he scored one and set up another during the impressive 4-0 victory away at Millwall.
Tony said: “This place demands an intensity and they delivered it. The game-plan worked very, very well again but all the credit has to go to the players. They made it happen and made it work.”
“It was a great day and I’m just delighted for the supporters as well who have travelled in their droves to a difficult place. The challenge is to sustain it now.”
Tony Mowbray's men moved top of the table with the triumph.
