LG PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK: BOURNEMOUTH
The League Managers Association five-man Performance of the Week panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, were in agreement that this week the LG Performance of the Week Award should go to Bournemouth following their excellent 3 - 0 victory against promotion rivals Middlesbrough in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday 21st March 2015.
The experienced and highly distinguished panel has managed a combined total of over 6,000 competitive matches in professional football.
Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe will receive a specially commissioned trophy made by world renowned silversmiths and LMA Partner, Thomas Lyte of London, in a presentation to commemorate the award.
Harry Arter scored a wonder goal at the start of the second half, when the Cherries were already ahead, through the first of two penalties which gave the home side a thoroughly deserved win as they leap-frogged over Middlesbrough, and took them back to the top of the table.
After the match Howe said, “In tight areas we were excellent and clinical. It’s been a good all-round day for us with a clean sheet and three goals against the meanest defence.
“I have got so much respect for Middlesbrough, their manager and how they play. So to beat them so convincingly will be a big boost to everyone connected with the club.
“We will not be getting carried away because we know there are a lot of points to play for, but it is a step in the right direction.”
