The League Managers Association five-man Performance of the Week panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, were in agreement that this week the newly sponsored and longstanding LG Performance of the Week Award should go to Arsenal following their excellent 2 - 0 victory against Manchester City in the Barclays Premier League on Sunday 19th January 2015.

The experienced and highly distinguished panel has managed a combined total of over 6,000 competitive matches in professional football.

Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger will receive a specially commissioned trophy made by world renowned silversmiths and LMA Partner, Thomas Lyte of London, in a presentation to commemorate the award.

Santi Cazorla from the penalty spot and Olivier Giroud with a header midway through the second half, were on target as Arsenal produced a masterclass to seriously upset defending Champions Manchester City’s hopes of retaining their Barclays Premier League title.  The defeat for City was only their second at home this season and the first loss since last November.

After the game Arsène Wenger said, “I felt that we were well-disciplined, well-organised, had a good quality and overall we kept a good control of the game. We could even have done better many times on counter attacks”.
