Bob Paisley OBE (1974 - 1983)
Paisley had the unenviable task of succeeding the great Bill Shankly, and it was a task he took to, winning 13 major trophies in 9 years, even out performing his mentor when the dust finally settled on his managerial career. Paisley's impact on Liverpool Football Club extended far beyond silverware. As Dalglish explained:
"He went through the card in football. He played for Liverpool, he treated the players, he coached them, he managed them and then he became a director. He was never boastful but had great football knowledge. There will never be another like him. I owe Bob more than I owe anybody else in the game."
In a by gone age when managers where king and ruled their roost, his trophy haul is all the more impressive when you consider that his managerial contemporaries included Brian Clough's Derby & Don Revie's Leeds United.
Again, rather uniquely, he was a manager spent 30 years at the one club, and who understood all aspects of the game, having played for and captained Liverpool (under Bill Shankly), he then went on to become reserve team trainer, then club physiotherapist before finally managing the club he believed was the greatest, Liverpool Football Club.
