ALAN
OAKES

Oakes holds the all-time appearance record for Manchester City.  He played for City for seven seasons, before moving onto clubs such as Chester City, Northwich Victoria and Port Vale.

Oakes' only league managerial experience comes from his time at Chester City, where he was player-coach for six years.  During this time he led Chester to the last 16 of the FA Cup twice.  Oakes left the club in March 1982.

He then went on to become reserve team coach at Port Vale, but still registered and indeed played for the club if they were injury-hit.
